- The Church of England Marriage Measure 2008 came into force on 1st October 2008. Guidance on the new Measure can be found at the Church of England web site. The House of Bishops has issued some Guidance on the new Measure.

- Fees for a Common Marriage Licence increased from £70.00 to £75.00.

- The fee payable on lodging a Faculty Petition was increased to £136.00 on 1 January 2008. (In the Diocese of Peterborough, this will only apply to private faculty applications, as faculty fees for church applications are dealt with through the diocesan budget.)

- A new Table of Parochial Fees came into force on 1 January 2008.

- In view of the recent increase in the theft of metals, particularly lead, from churches, the Ecclesiastical Insurance Group has issued some guidance notes to help parishes minimise the risk of theft. Also, the Chancellor of the Diocese has issued the following Practice Note: "I give authority to the Archdeacons to authorise work up to £5,000 under the De Minimis rule for the purpose of re-covering church roofs following recent thefts. I am prepared to give that authority, in relation to church roofs only, provided that the work is done on a like-for-like basis, until the end of the calendar year 2008."
